When ISO Interactive were looking to get a Martin MAC 250+ moving head to point it's spotlight at arbitrary points on a map, the job looked pretty much impossible. Yet confidence in Signwave's ability to provide bespoke lighting control software means that the exhibits they have designed and developed for the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea do exactly that - and more.
...Signwave were tasked with creating bespoke software controllers to trigger
complex lighting units. The solution was an elegant application that
configured and controlled user activated lighting hardware
across our most complex installation".
- Damien Smith, director of ISO
Signwave's expertees in writing custom driver software for multimedia exhibits is demonstrated throughout the showcase museum, which opened in October 2005. Industry standard DMX compatible lighting systems are common in professional set ups, as are multimedia development tools such as Macromedia Director. But where software meets hardware, there is often a lack of capability - either because the software cannot talk to the lower level drivers, or because the hardware is just too complex for a development language such as Lingo. This is where Signwave can leverage their advanced knowledge and experience of hardware control systems to provide a one-stop solution, allowing AV exhibits to take full control of advanced hardware such as lighting rigs.

Furthermore, Signwave can deliver a host of functionality that enhances and extends the capabilities of your AV product. By offering features such as network visiblity, administrative interfaces, integration with back-end database drivers and fail-safe backup protection, Signwave's solutions make it possible to deliver astounding realtime interactive experiences that break through the boundaries of a screen or projection.
| Full administrative interfaces on all hardware operations allows manual show control by on-site engineers or support personnel, a must for avoiding expensive and slow debugging of deployed code | |
| Hooking into existing databases or back-end systems can reduce development overheads and enhance the final experience | |
| Adding TCP or UDP networking allows distributed multi-computer AV exhibits to share data, resources and hardware, making coordination across a complex AV setup easy and pain-free | |
| Industry standard show control protocols such as DMX512 ensure error-free and reliable hardware operation, vital for an exhibition environments where systems cannot fail |
